Senior Risk and Compliance Manager

growing UK law firm is seeking a Senior Risk & Compliance Manager to support the Head of Risk & Compliance in developing and maintaining a robust risk and compliance framework across the firm. The Role

The Senior Risk & Compliance Manager will play a key role in ensuring the firm meets all regulatory and professional obligations while embedding a strong culture of compliance across the business. You will work closely with partners, fee earners, and business services teams to manage risk, interpret regulatory developments, and ensure best practice across the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the firm’s risk management and compliance framework
  • Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations, the Legal Services Act, and other regulatory requirements
  • Conduct firm-wide risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
  • Provide guidance on AML, sanctions, anti-bribery, and client due diligence processes
  • Oversee conflict checks and client onboarding referrals
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments impacting the legal sector
  • Design and deliver compliance training programmes across the firm
  • Maintain the risk register, incident management procedures, and business continuity plans
  • Prepare compliance and risk reports for senior leadership
  • Support regulatory engagement with auditors, insurers, and regulators

About You

The successful candidate will have significant experience working within risk and compliance in a law firm environment.

Key requirements include:

  • Strong knowledge of SRA regulatory requirements
  • Expertise in AML legislation, including the Money Laundering Regulations and POCA
  • Understanding of UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation
  • Experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to advise senior stakeholders and partners
  • Excellent analytical and organisational abilities
