Role: SAP Insurance Project Manager – Fully Remote

Technology & Risk Recruitment is currently working with a leading organisation to recruit an experienced SAP Insurance Project Manager for a major SAP transformation programme.

This is a fully remote contract opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background delivering SAP projects within the insurance sector.

You will take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a strategic SAP portal project, working across business and technical teams and coordinating integrations with key SAP Insurance modules covering policy, claims, finance, risk management and reporting.

The Role:

As SAP Insurance Project Manager, you will act as the key coordination point between business stakeholders, SAP implementation partners, enterprise architects and technical delivery teams.

You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered against agreed scope, budget, timelines, quality standards and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership

• Lead end-to-end SAP implementation and transformation projects.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, budgets and timelines.
• Establish project governance, reporting and delivery structures.
• Manage project plans, dependencies and multiple workstreams.
• Ensure adherence to organisational change and delivery procedures.

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business stakeholders across insurance functions.
• Facilitate workshops, governance meetings and decision-making sessions.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and communication.
• Resolve issues and conflicts and drive timely decisions.
• Provide clear project reporting to senior stakeholders.

SAP Delivery Management

• Lead delivery of SAP Insurance solutions and associated integrations.
• Oversee delivery involving: SAP Portal, SAP FS-PM, SAP FS-CM, SAP FS-CD, SAP BW / SAP, Datasphere / SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP MDG, Business Partner, SAP S/4HANA

Risk & Issue Management

• Maintain project RAID logs.
• Identify project risks and establish mitigation plans.
• Escalate critical risks and issues through the appropriate governance channels.
• Monitor external system integrator and supplier performance.

Financial Management

• Manage project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Track project performance against approved business cases.
• Monitor expenditure and supplier commitments.

Quality & Testing

• Ensure adherence to agreed project methodologies and quality standards.
• Establish quality gates and acceptance criteria.
• Oversee testing activities including SIT, UAT, performance testing and cutover testing.

Change & Business Readiness

• Coordinate training and communication activities.
• Ensure business readiness for go-live.
• Support organisational change initiatives.
• Drive user adoption and benefits realisation.

Essential Experience:

To be considered, you should have:

• 4+ years’ project management experience and 2+ years’ experience leading SAP projects.
• Proven experience delivering SAP Insurance transformation projects.
• Experience managing project budgets of €1m+.
• Experience working with external SAP system integrators or implementation partners.
• Strong experience managing complex, multi-workstream SAP programmes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Desirable Experience:

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

• Export credit.
• Reinsurance.
• SAP Portal, SAP FS-PM, SAP FS-CM, SAP FS-CD, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP BW / Datasphere / SAC, SAP MDG.

Technical Environment:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working within environments involving:

• SAP Insurance modules, SAP ABAP, SAP BTP, SAP Solution Manager / Cloud ALM, SAP HANA.
• Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Power BI, Project Online / Planner.

You don’t necessarily need to be hands-on technically; the key requirement is the ability to manage and coordinate SAP technical delivery teams and understand the underlying SAP landscape.
