We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Business Intelligence Developer to design, develop, and implement Power BI reports and dashboards on Saffron Building Society’s newly adopted cloud data platform. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the business to deliver insight-driven reporting, helping to maximise the commercial value of our data assets. The ideal candidate will have expert-level SQL skills, deep data modelling knowledge, and strong experience with Microsoft Azure technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement Power BI reports and dashboards using Saffron’s cloud data platform.
- Build and optimise data models to deliver impactful business intelligence and insight.
- Define and apply methods to manage data quality, lineage, completeness, and lifecycle.
- Document model development using the Society’s chosen tooling.
- Develop high-quality, consumable insights for business stakeholders.
- Support regulatory and internal reporting through effective data-driven solutions.
- Identify and implement opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.
- Evaluate and design data services and data models (logical and physical).
- Provide subject-matter expertise in designing data systems for complex financial data.
- Design and build ETL pipelines for integrating data from disparate systems.
- Manage daily data updates, validation, query revisions, and code modifications.
- Translate business requirements into actionable data insights.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to gather requirements and design solutions.
- Create wireframes and visual concepts and bring them to life in Power BI.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong Business Intelligence and data visualisation skills, particularly with Power BI.
- Ability to communicate insights clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling.
- Experience with data lineage, flow mapping, and ensuring data quality.
- Expert-level SQL and data warehouse development experience.
- Understanding of data security and ability to communicate and manage updates and training.
- Basic experience using dbt for data transformation.
Additional Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure data products, including Azure Data Factory and Synapse.
- Understanding of cloud and hybrid ETL solutions.
- Applied experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
