Technology & Risk Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced ServiceNow Developer to join an enterprise ServiceNow environment in Brussels This is a hands-on development role for someone who is comfortable working across ServiceNow ITSM, ITAM, CMDB and, ideally, elements of ITOM.
You will be responsible for translating technical and functional requirements into robust, maintainable ServiceNow solutions, including configuration, scripting, workflows, automation and integrations.
The Role
You will work closely with ServiceNow architects, platform owners, business analysts and process owners to deliver enhancements and new capabilities across the ServiceNow platform. The role will involve both development and configuration, with a strong focus on upgrade-safe, maintainable solutions and ServiceNow best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ServiceNow Development & Configuration
- Configure and develop ServiceNow applications using configuration-first and upgrade-safe principles.
- Develop forms, fields, UI policies, client scripts, business rules and script includes.
- Configure notifications, templates, SLAs and assignment rules.
- Implement ACLs, roles and appropriate security controls.
- Develop workflows and automation using Flow Designer and ServiceNow workflow capabilities.
- Build approvals, routing logic and reusable automation components.
ITSM
- Develop and enhance ServiceNow ITSM processes covering:
- Incident
- Request
- Problem
- Change
- Knowledge Management
- Service Catalog
- SLAs
- Develop Catalog Items and Record Producers.
- Automate fulfilment processes, routing and escalations.
- Support improvements to ITSM data quality and user experience.
ITAM – SAM / HAM
- Support ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
- Work with software lifecycle and entitlement data.
- Support compliance reporting and asset management processes.
- Configure hardware lifecycle and procure-to-retire workflows.
- Work with contract, vendor and asset lifecycle data.
CMDB
- Configure and maintain CMDB-related functionality.
- Work with CI classes, attributes and relationships.
- Support CI lifecycle controls and data quality.
- Contribute to CMDB governance and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure integrations and data feeds correctly populate and maintain CMDB information.
ITOM – Advantageous
- Support ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping and Event Management.
- Work with Discovery schedules, credentials and MID Server-related activities.
- Support Service Mapping and CI relationships.
- Assist with Event Management, alert correlation and data mapping.
- Help align ITOM outputs with CMDB and ITSM processes.
Integrations & Automation
- Develop and support integrations using REST/SOAP APIs.
- Work with scripted REST APIs where required.
- Use IntegrationHub capabilities where available.
- Configure imports, Transform Maps, coalesce rules and scheduled imports.
- Support data and event integrations across ServiceNow modules.
Testing & Release
- Follow appropriate ServiceNow development and SDLC standards.
- Participate in code reviews and technical documentation.
- Carry out unit and functional testing.
- Support ATF and automated testing where applicable.
- Assist with deployments, releases and post-release validation.
Production Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide L3 technical support for developed ServiceNow functionality.
- Troubleshoot defects and performance issues.
- Carry out root cause analysis.
- Identify technical debt and recommend improvements.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and support guides.
Essential Skills & Experience
We’re looking for a proven ServiceNow Developer with strong hands-on technical experience. You should have:
- Strong commercial ServiceNow development experience.
- Excellent knowledge of JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting.
- Experience with both client-side and server-side scripting.
- Strong knowledge of Flow Designer and/or ServiceNow Workflows.
- Experience developing Service Catalog items and fulfilment workflows.
- Experience with Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts and UI Policies.
- Good understanding of ACLs, roles and ServiceNow security.
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow tables, relationships and the underlying data model.
- Experience working with ITSM.
- Experience with CMDB.
- Exposure to ITAM / SAM / HAM would be highly advantageous.
- Exposure to ITOM / Discovery / Service Mapping / Event Management would be beneficial.
- Experience with ServiceNow integrations and APIs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within an Agile delivery environment.
Certifications
The following would be advantageous:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- CIS – ITSM, ITOM or ITAM
- ITIL Foundation
- Other relevant ServiceNow certifications
Languages
English is essential. Dutch and/or French would be advantageous but are not essential.
Working Arrangement
The role is based in Brussels, with an expectation of 3 days per week onsite at the client.
