Underwriting Manager

Are you an experienced Underwriting Manager with expertise in complex lending? Do you have a solid understanding of self-build mortgages and development finance? If you hold a CeMAP qualification and have line management experience? If so, this role could be a great fit for you.
The Role:
- Lead and manage the underwriting process for self-build and development finance projects, with a focus on assessing complex income streams.
- Collaborate effectively with brokers, clients, and stakeholders to create structured solutions that meet both regulatory and client demands.
- Develop, implement, and refine underwriting policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of professional growth and high performance.
- Underwriting high net worth applications with complex income streams and construction methods for BTL, residential owner occupied, self-build and development finance applications.
- Proven track record of managing, driving and increasing productivity and the training & competency performance of a team of Underwriters.
Key Skills / Experience:
- Proven experience in underwriting, specifically with complex lending.
- Strong understanding of self-build mortgages and development finance processes.
- Preferably CeMAP qualified.
- Line management experience, with a capacity to lead and inspire a team.
- Excellent analytical skills complemented by keen attention to detail and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills, enabling effective engagement with both clients and colleagues.
